Sometimes customers will require the IK rating of those outdoor luminaires, for example, the LED flood light.
Actually,IK rating can be divided from IK00-IK10,see below:
IK00 | IK01 | IK02 | IK03 | IK04 | IK05 | IK06 | IK07 | IK08 | IK09 | IK10 |
0J | 0.14J | 0.2J | 0.35J | 0.5J | 0.7J | 1J | 2J | 5J | 10J | 20J |
The form above list how much energy that each rating needs, for example,IK03 we need to use 0.35J energy to hit the luminaires, there is an easy way to calculate the energy,we need to use a physical formula:
Joule(J)=mgh,m(kg) means the weight of the object that use to hit,g we usually use 9.8m/s²,h(meter) means the height of the hitting.
How to judge which IK rating the luminaire belongs to?For example,if the the luminaire after hitting with 0.35J object,it can still work normally and there is no bursting on the surface, then we can say the luminaire pass IK03,but there will be some small difference in each country, like the numbers of hitting.
